Meet Fritz!
Hi I'm Fritz, and this is the third time I'm looking for a new home. I spent the first two years of my life in a puppy mill, and that wasn't a very nice place. My first home was with a nice lady who meant well but wasn't able to train me. I mostly just hung out in her closet because I found the world overwhelming. I needed another dog to teach me how to be a dog. So I went to home number two. I made friends with their dogs, but they didn't realize how scarred I was from my experience in the puppy mill. Every new experience scared me! It was confusing to know where I should potty and where I shouldn't. At first I was afraid to use my voice, but then I needed to bark at everything. Have you seen some of those squirrels out there? They are terrifying! And don't get me started on the falling leaves!
But now I am with a really nice foster family, and I am doing great with my potty training. I haven't had an accident in weeks! I have a crate that I love. It's my safe space. I do love being brushed, and even being held and loved on by people I learn to trust. But if I don't know you, I am very scared of you at first.
I will need an owner who is very gentle and patient with me. I will also need a dog friend to live with me. A strong fence will be needed, preferably not a chain link one, as I have climbed one before to try to escape. Once you earn my trust, though, I have lots of love to give.

Adoption Application
If you are interested in adopting one of our Shelties—either an available one or one that may come in the future—please fill out our online application form. If you are interested in a particular dog, there is a place to enter the doggie's name. If you are interested in being considered for any of our dogs—either ones we don't have yet or because one you are interested in is no longer available—fill out an application anyway. We will try to let you know when new dogs that match your interest become available.
Adoption Contract
When people adopt a dog from Nebraska Sheltie Rescue, they are asked to sign our adoption contract. This is so we can feel comfortable that our dogs will be going to good homes, be safe, and treated well.
Even if you are not ready to adopt a dog yet, you can view this contract to find out and decide if this is something you are willing to do. (To be honest, if you really care about doggies, none of this will come as a surprise.)
